Cluster Blanked

One of the nodes of our lab’s computational cluster crashed a short while ago. I noticed there was a problem when I couldn’t SSH into it to run a Gaussian calculation. I took up the hard drive first to one of the department’s computer guys to check and it needed its file system repaired. After hooking the hard drive back up, I still couldn’t get access to the node, so I took up the power supply, hard drive, and main board (CPU and RAM). Today, I find out that it was the main board or CPU that has failed in some way. Tomorrow, I am going to take it to the department’s other computer guy, the one who built the cluster, for him to verify which component has failed and replace it.
