Ricoh Camera

It turns out that the camera I got through Freecycle a few weeks ago does indeed work. All it needed was a AC adapter and a SmartMedia card. The AC adapter was obtained at Radio Shack, where they had a 6V one, rather than the required 5V, but I had the salesman check to make sure the adapter worked with the camera (and that the camera actually worked). The price was just under $20. I bought a 64MB SmartMedia card at OfficeMax and was able to get it for half price ($20 rather than $40). So, I paid around $40 to be able to use a 2.1 megapixel camera (1600×1200 pixels) that takes rather decent pictures. The pictures are far better than those from the digital cameras we already had, a Apple QuickTake 150 and Polaroid i-Zone Dual Mode, both of which are limited to 640×480 pixels and 1MB of permanent storage.
