Very Busy…

I’ve been really busy these past few months. I finally finished graduate school at USC and now have my Ph.D. in Chemistry. Now everyone (ok, a select few) calls me Doctor! I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at a Naval Research Laboratory in southern California, right smack dab in the middle of nowhere. We got a two bedroom apartment for significantly less than we were paying for a studio back in Los Angeles. I’m getting paid quite a bit more, but have to withhold my own taxes.

The job is going well, in fact my syntheses is going so well, my boss decided to put my main project on hold and do something a little more challenging. The people I work with are very friendly and very talented. It’s refreshing to work with people who behave professionally again.

These past few weekends, Melissa and I have been working hard to make our apartment feel more like a home. We’re expecting to have our living room and bedroom furniture delivered in week or so. We’ve put up shelving, art work, bookcases, etc. We’ve lived in crappy apartments for so long, it’s nice to have a place we can be proud of.

It was also nice to hear that my friend Patrick got another good job this week. I gave him a good reference when one of his future supervisor’s called last week.
