- If your Macintosh (Beige G3 era, most likely others as well) is not booting properly, then you can go into Open Firmware by holding down the CMD+OPT+O+F keys all at the same time while booting. Once in Open Firmware, you can type the following commands to restore the system to its default settings.
- init-nvram
- set-defaults
- reset-all

- Keep all of your major software installation CDs (operating system, applications, games) in one location, in case you need to reinstall anything or transfer programs from one computer to another. It would be a good idea to keep a backup of these in another location.
